About MO4L

The Mason James Owens Foundation (MO4L) was created in memory of our son, Mason, who passed away in April 2024, just two days after his 16th birthday.

In the weeks that followed, countless people in our community reached out to share stories of how Mason’s kindness, generous spirit, and joy had positively impacted their lives. Inspired by those stories, we knew we wanted to keep his legacy alive—through acts of kindness.

MO4L uses funds raised to recognize and reward kindness within our community. Mason was a lifelong Star Wars fan, so it felt fitting that nominations are collected through a student-made mailbox modeled after a GNK Droid (a Star Wars droid). Students, staff, and faculty can nominate someone whose kindness has made a difference.

Each month, a committee reviews the nominations and selects recipients who are making the world a better place, one kind act at a time. Rewards vary from local gift certificates to sports gear or other meaningful items chosen to fit the recipient’s act of kindness.

Mason would have graduated with the Class of 2026. Beginning this year, an annual scholarship will be awarded in his name to a student who demonstrates consistent kindness, compassion, and a positive impact on those around them.

Through MO4L, Mason’s light continues to shine, encouraging others to lead with kindness and change the world in small but powerful ways.
